San Antonio is home to a selection of locales for the performing arts. The San Pedro Playhouse
The Russel Hill Rogers Theater, one of the thaters that are part of the San Pedro Playhouse, last year of 2012, played 3 different shows: "A Christmas Carol", Oklahoma" and "Xanandu". The other theater that is part of the San Pedro Playhouse is called Cellar Theater made of three rows of seating on two sides of the stage and two rows of seats at the front of the stage.
The Majestic Theater and the Charlene McCombs the Empire Theater
The Majestic Thater has capacity to accomodate more than two thousand people and was designed and created in the 1920s. Both Majestic and the Empire Theater had a complete makover and now the Majestic, from Sep until Jun, is the house for the San Antonio Symphony performances. This is amongst the locales where you can see productions by the Ballet San Antonio dance company.
The Empire Theater was built in 1913 and is decorated in gold leafing. Today, with offering children's theater, it hosts performers like Don McLean, Shawn Colvin, and David Crosby.
The Alamodome, Lila Cockrell Theater, and the Illusions Theater
The Alamodome, which opened in 1993, hosts conventions and trade shows with rock concerts and speciality shows like Ringling Bros. The Dome is also the home of 2 more theaters in San Antonio. The Lila Cockrell Theater has a 113 foot by 60 foot stage for anything from popular performing artists to Ballet San Antonio performances to lectures. The intimate-feeling Illusions Theater can seat anywhere from 3,785 to eleven thousand people.

The Cameo Center, designed in Egyption art deco, was built in 1940 and has hosted every type of events from vaudeville to Metallica. The Cameo is probably one of the flexible San Antonio theaters that are set up for a range of events. The Cameo hosts live musical concerts, dramatic performances, multi-media displays, and is even available for theme parties.
The Magik Theater
The Magik Theater, for children and families and folks of any age, is in its eighteenth season this year. What sets the Magik Theater except for other theaters in San Antonio is their dedication to spectacular products that are all based mostly on children's books. Patrons are welcome to wear cosy clothes, and those 2 years and under are admitted free. You won't be sorry for visiting this San Antonio theater.
