Why Flat Shoes Are so Good For You

Flat shoes are much better for your posture and physical health than heeled shoes. In particular they help your posture.

Wearing high-heeled shoes puts a lot of strain on your feet. You are putting most of your weight on the balls of your feet. Something they were not designed to cope with. Basically, you are standing on tip toe most of the time, which means the curve of your spine is misaligned, which means it is under constant strain.

If you cannot bear to wear flats all of the time, at least give your feet a break. Try wearing them at home or when you are driving. Keep your high-heeled shoes for special occasions like parties and weddings if you can.

The best flats to wear are flats that are not too flat. Believe it or not, really flat shoes that don't have much sole or flexibility can eventually be as painful as heels! So look for a shoe that has a quality tread.

If you are wearing flat shoes for an occasion and you know you won't be walking any distance in them or staying in them all day, then go for a style that you really like, rather than comfort - every girl should have a party shoe!

Because there is not much of a heel on flat shoes, they very quickly wear out. If you buy cheap ones you will have to have them re-heeled and maybe even re-soled after only a couple of months. Buying good quality, branded flat shoes avoids this problem.

With flat shoes you still get a wide choice of styles. Lace ups look as good as slip-ons. Try to buy leather if you can, it tends to wear better than many other materials and stays comfortable for far longer. If you are a vegan just be careful to only buy shoes made out of breathable materials.
