You Should Always Wear Comfortable Shoes

By Arthur Pacana

Wearing comfortable shoes can be very important for many reasons. Sometimes people endure horrible foot pain for the sake of fashion. But the fact is that, no matter how fashionable the shoes are they are not worth damaging your feet and subsequently your health.

This is not really a problem for men but for women attractive footwear usually means a pair of excruciating 5 inch heels! Women often wear those heels all day long at work and also running errands, until that evening when they get home with sore ankles, painful feet and throbbing toes. But it's not only your feet that are being damaged by those uncomfortable shoes. Uncomfortable shoes are often responsible for more serious health issues.

Wearing uncomfortable, pointy shoes, in which your toes are squished together, can cause pinched nerves and misshapen toes and can contribute to obvious conditions such as blisters, corns and bunions and a more serious thickening of the tissues and nerve damage called Morton's Neuroma. Sometimes these issues become so painful and serious that they can only be cured surgically. It is recommended that people who wear such shoes only do so for short periods of time, resting their feet in slippers or a pair of flip-flops flops frequently to avoid irreversible foot damage.

Uncomfortable shoes can take a toll on more than just your feet, but can also affect posture and the way you walk. It is not uncommon to develop a limp from forcing your leg and back muscles to operate in an unnatural position. But, if you thought your feet hurt bad, you just wait until that nerve and muscle damage travels up your legs into your lower back! Unnatural pressure on your hips and lower back can lead to pinched nerves and more chronic conditions like sciatica.

The unnatural positions your uncomfortable shoes force your legs and hips into cause undue stress on joints such as your knees and hips, causing cartilage damage and damage to the knee caps, painful conditions that require surgical correction.

Shoes were not invented to damage feet. They were actually invented to prevent injury to your feet and keep them healthy. Conditions like diabetes can make foot care all the more critical. The truth is there are a lot of attractive shoes that are orthopedic shoes and can actually help you maintain good foot health. Wearing orthopedic shoes might be just thing for your foot problems. With proper foot wear you will find a world of comfort and maybe your chronic back pain will go away as well!
