Selecting Your Office Clothes Made Easy

By Melvin Hernandez

For some, dressing up is a form of work of art, the thing is - not everybody is born artist. The truth is, the risk of being underdressed is as great as the risk of being overdressed. For fashion conscious, sometimes, they find it hard to conform to the office dress code while looking trendy at the same time. For others, adhering to the dress code itself is one heck of a task. Certainly, dressing up is tricky, so here are some tips that you might want to consider.

If you are new in the office, the best thing that you can do is to look all over and observe what they wear. Be subtle in doing this, but try to evaluate what your superiors and co-workers are wearing. By doing so, you will have an idea of the level of formalness or casualness of your office. And if you outline your daily outfit to what they are already wearing your chances of dressing-up right is better.

Do not take risks and stick to the dress code. If the office dress code is corporate casual, stick to it. Others go way too far. For example, if the office allows you to wear jeans to work, make sure they are proper jeans, not one that has been tattered. Decency is expected from you, especially in the workplace. Colour choice is significant as well. Choose subtle colors over loud colours. Faint shades make you look more businesslike.

In dressing up, always bear in mind that you should never bargain comfort over looks. In the end, it does not really matter what you wore at work but what you completed during that shift. The thing is if you are not comfortable wearing sky-high heels do not, even if every girl in the office does. Go for flats if you're relaxed with it. There is really no point of wearing uncomfortable clothes. As long as you are not breaking any rule, don't bother much.

Last of all, keep your face and head looking right. Males, get a proper haircut. Women, choose a hairstyle that's appropriate for the office. Make up is a must but don't make it too heavy. Tone down your cologne as well.
